On Thursday 10th February 2000 I went to another Flying Music promoted concert at the Town Hall, Cheltenham. This concert featured four more bands from the 60's, these bands were, THE SWINGING BLUE JEANS, THE SEARCHERS, PETER SARSTEDT, and GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS.

First on stage were THE SWINGING BLUE JEANS, who performed their hits which include "Hippy Hippy Shake", "Good Golly Miss Molly", "It's Too Late Now", "You're No Good", and my favourite "Don't Make Me Over". The band, although only consisting of two original members, RAY ENNIS and LES BRAID, still sounded as good as ever.

THE SEARCHERS, who were next on stage, again sounded as good as they did in the sixties, performed their hits "Needles & Pins", "Sweets For My Sweet", "When You Walk In The Room", and "Goodbye My Love", to name but a few. They even performed a more recently penned song called "Somebody Told Me You Were Crying", which is a lovely song.

The line-ups for these two bands were:-

THE SWINGING BLUE JEANS THE SEARCHERS
RAY ENNIS - Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar
LES BRAID - Bass Guitar / Backing Vocals
PHIL THOMPSON - Drums / Percussion
ALAN LOVELL - Lead Guitar / Vocals
JOHN McNALLY - Lead Guitar / Vocals
FRANK ALLEN - Bass / Vocals / Front Man
SPENCER JAMES - Lead Vocals / Synthesiser Guitar
EDDIE ROTHE - Drums / Percussion / Backing Vocals

After the interval we heard some tracks from PETER SARSTEDT who performed two medley's and his most famous hit "Where Do You Go To My Lovely". I was a little disappointed with this Performance as he used a backing tape.

GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS who were the last on stage were in my opinion the most entertaining act on the night, telling a few stories and singing songs such as, "I Like It", "How Do You Do It?", "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Ferry Cross The Mersey", and my favourite "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying".

The line-ups for these two bands were:-

PETER SARSTEDT GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS
PETER SARSTEDT - Vocals / Guitar
plus BACKING TAPE
GERRY MARSDEN - Vocals / Guitar
ANDY CAIRNS - Bass
ANTHONY YOUNG - Keyboards
COLIN GARTH - Drums

I really enjoyed the show and look forward to the next FLYING MUSIC package.
